In this research, a multistage cluster sampling method was used based on Tehran's neighborhoods. Using the Cochran sampling formula, a sample size of 604 was selected. The respodents were Tehranian citizens over 20 years of age. A questionnaire was administered to the statistical sample and the data was analyzed using SPSS software and Pearson correlation test. The analysis revealed that at a confidence level of 0.99%, there is a significant correlation between the tendency of individuals towards equal socio-political opportunities (0.53), tendency towards socio-political liberties (0.55), tendency towards secularism (0.52), and social capital variables. The results of the regression analysis showed that among three independent variables, the tendency toward secularism has the most significant effect on the dependent variable. These three variables have predicted 37.3 percent of the total change in the rate of decline in social capital among Tehran citizens, and other factors influence 62.7 percent of these changes. هدف از تحقیق حاضر تحلیل و تبیین جامعه‌شناختی رابطه بین گرایش به رویکردهای دموکراتیک و سرمایه اجتماعی در نظام جمهوری اسلامی ایران، از دیدگاه مردم است. در این تحقیق از روش پیمایش و نمونه‌گیری خوشه‌ای چند مرحله‌ای، بر حسب محلات شهر تهران، استفاده شد و به کمک فرمول نمونه‌گیری کوکران، حجم نمونه‌ای به تعداد 604 نفر از میان شهروندان تهرانی بالای 20 سال انتخاب شد. با اجرای پرسشنامه در بین نمونه آماری و تحلیل داده‌ها، با استفاده از نرم افزار SPSS و محاسبه آزمون آماری همبستگی پیرسون مشخص شد که در سطح اطمینان 0.99 میان گرایش افراد به متغیرهای فرصت‌های برابر اجتماعی - سیاسی (0.53)، گرایش به آزادی‌های اجتماعی - سیاسی (0.55) و گرایش به سکولاریسم (0.52) و متغیر سرمایه اجتماعی همبستگی معناداری وجود دارد. نتایج تحلیل رگرسیون نشان داد که از میان سه متغیر مستقل مذکور، گرایش به سکولاریسم دارای بیشترین تأثیر بر متغیر وابسته است. سه متغیر یاد‌شده 37.3 درصد از کل تغییرات میزان کاهش سرمایه‌ اجتماعی را در بین شهروندان تهرانی پیش‌بینی کرده‌اند و 62.7 درصد از این تغییرات تحت تأثیر عوامل دیگر است.
